He is also known for his initials KD. Kevin was selected as the second overall picked by Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA draft after playing just one season for the college basketball team i.e (the University of Texas).

Early Life

Kevin Durant’s birthplace is in Washington, D.C. When he was 13 years old his father again entered his life and also traveled the country with him to basketball tournaments.

He was tall from a young age and reached 6 ft. 0 inches while still in middle school. While growing up, Durant wanted to play for his favorite team, ‘The Toronto Rappers’ which also included his favorite player, Vince Carter.

Kevin also played Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball for few teams in the Maryland area and were teams with Michael Beasley, Greivis Vasquez, and Ty Lawson who is the current NBA player and friend of Kevin till this date.

Kevin played two years of high school basketball at National Christian Academy and one year at Oak Hill Academy, Kevin transferred to Montrose Christian School for his senior year.

Career

Kevin Durant started his basketball career when he was just in high school. He was looked like one of the most popular and promising upcoming prodigies in the history of basketball.

Kevin averaged the highest point average total of 25.8 per game during his first stint at the University of Texas. He also led in rebounding average and most blocked shots with a total of 67.

Kevin won the unanimous College Player of the Year. In 2007, his college career was instantly over when Seattle Supersonics drafted him second overall.
