At the age of five, Lukaku joined the local team Rupel Boom.
After spending four years at Rupel Boom, scouts from Lierse, a Belgian Pro League team with a well-established development program, came across Lukaku.
Between 2004 and 2006, while playing for Lierse, he scored 121 goals in 68 games.
On May 13, 2009, the day Lukaku turned 16, he agreed to a professional deal with Anderlecht that would extend until 2012.
On May 24, 2009, in the championship play-off game against Standard Liège, eleven days later, he made his Belgian First Division debut as a 69th-minute replacement for defender Victor Bernárdez.
2011-2016
Even though Anderlecht won the league during the regular season and finished first in the standings, they were unable to defend their championship despite Lukaku’s 20 goals across all competitions throughout the 2010–11 campaign.
Lukaku signed a five-year deal with Premier League team Chelsea in August 2011 for an estimated sum of about €12 million, with the possibility of further payments of up to €20 million.
In the 83rd minute, Lukaku made his Stamford Bridge debut in a 3-1 victory over Norwich City after replacing Fernando Torres.
